RIHA - Journalist Xezne Celal, drawing attention to the attacks on Kobanê's villages and the violation of the 15-day agreement from the very first day, said, ‘Kobanê was liberated from DAISH gangs on 26 January 2015. Today, there is a call to defend it and resist in the same way.’

The HTS gangs' attacks on Rojava continue despite the ceasefire decision. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on 24 January that the ceasefire had been extended for another 15 days. However, attacks on Kobanê have continued since the first day the ceasefire decision was taken. The attacks are mainly concentrated in the villages of Shexler, Çelebi, Zerik, Xeta Sor and Qasniye.

Journalist Xezne Celal shared the latest situation in the region. Xezne Celal pointed out that the attacks on Kobanê are a difficult process, but said that despite the difficulties, there is great resistance. Xezne Celal said, "Last night, the QSD announced a new 15-day ceasefire. However, we, the people living here and journalists, are not hopeful about this ceasefire. Because despite the ceasefire, the attacks continued. That is why the people are continuing their mobilisation. The situation in Kobane is serious right now. Electricity, water and the internet have been cut off since the attacks began. All routes for people to meet their daily needs have been cut off. There has been a heavy influx of refugees to Kobane, and those who have fled are facing serious difficulties."

One child lost their life, four people were injured

Xezen Celal stated that attacks on villages in Kobanê took place despite the ceasefire agreement, saying, "Attacks were carried out on the villages of Şexler, Zerik and Çelebi within the borders of Rojava. YPG-YPJ fighters responded to these attacks. The gangs suffered a major blow. A 15-day agreement was signed. However, today, HTS gangs and paramilitary groups affiliated with Turkey attacked Kobanê and its villages. Attacks were carried out on the villages of Şexler, Zerik and Çelebi within the borders of Rojava. YPG-YPJ fighters responded to these attacks. The gangs suffered a major blow. A large number of the gangs' combat vehicles were destroyed in the village of Çelebi. Many HTS members were killed in the village of Şexler. A fierce battle is ongoing in the village of Xeta Sor. The war between the YPG-YPJ and HTS paramilitary groups affiliated with Turkey continues. HTŞ gangs and paramilitary groups affiliated with Turkey attacked the village of Qasniye in Kobane in the evening. As a result of the attack, one child was martyred and four civilians were wounded."

‘Kobanê must be defended with the same spirit’

Xezne Celal emphasised that today also marks the anniversary of Kobanê’s liberation from DAİŞ gangs, making the following appeal: “Kobanê was liberated from DAISH gangs on 26 January 2015. However, attacks are being carried out again today, on the same date. Therefore, just as the Kurdish people defended Kobanê in 2014-2015, there is a call today to defend it in the same way and to resist. The people of Kobanê are calling out first to the Kurdish people and then to the whole world. Everyone owes Kobanê a debt. That is why everyone must resist.”
